Position Overview
We are seeking a capable Network and Business Systems Administrator to take ownership of day-to-day network and business systems operations across our service provider environment and managed business customer base. This role is built for someone who can step in and run critical infrastructure with confidence — maintaining routing, monitoring network health, supporting business systems, and responding to issues — while working carefully in production environments where uptime and customer impact matter.
The ideal candidate is methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable being the person others rely on when systems have to work. You should understand how our infrastructure fits together at a high level, troubleshoot effectively, and exercise sound judgment when making changes in live environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain production network infrastructure, including BGP and OSPF routing environments.
- Perform day-to-day network administration: configuration updates, route and policy adjustments, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordinated change control.
- Administer and support business systems and managed services for commercial customers — including connectivity, routing, and related infrastructure needs across SMB accounts.
- Respond to network incidents, service degradations, and escalations with urgency, sound judgment, and clear internal communication.
- Maintain visibility into network performance, capacity, and reliability; proactively identify issues before they affect customers.
- Work carefully in live production systems — validating changes, following established procedures, and minimizing customer impact.
- Collaborate with field operations, support, and leadership on service issues, deployments, and operational improvements.
- Keep network documentation, runbooks, and operational notes current as systems evolve.
Qualifications
- Strong practical experience with IP networking, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting in production environments.
- Hands-on comfort with BGP and OSPF; ability to understand routing design at a high level and operate within established architecture.
- Experience administering routers, switches, firewalls, IP addressing, DNS, and core ISP or enterprise network environments.
- Comfort supporting business customer environments and managed services beyond core transport — servers, business networks, and day-to-day technical operations as needed.
- Calm, cautious approach to change management in live systems; understands that mistakes can have broad customer impact.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and escalate appropriately.
- Clear written and verbal communication for internal teams and technical customer-facing situations when required.
- Experience with Cisco, MikroTik, and UniFi platforms is a strong plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel when on-site support is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
